UI/UX or UX/UI

Over the past few years I have heard the question

“So what is UI/UX meant to mean”

The simplest way to explain the two is to say that UX is the journey a user is taken on throughout a site, a website even a smart coffee machine. UX = User Experience

UI is simply what you interact with on your phone, pc, coffee machine etc. UI = User Interface.

The reason I ask the question above is that the two go firmly hand in hand it’s would be near impossible to have an app whereby useful & enjoyable without considering both UI/UX. I only put UI first because in the UK we put things in alphabetical order.

I believe this is wrong as the UX is the place where you start never mind alphabetical order. If I see a job avert and it’s start UI first I make sure I read the whole job description as this company or person may not even understand who they need to hire. On the other hand it a company puts UX first I’m happy to just click apply as I know they understand the process.

This could all be one big joke though as recruiters and HR teams could all just be putting whatever they feel is right. This is whereby I feel we have gone down a wrong road somewhere, I say this because I have had recruiters asking me questions that they don’t even know the answer to if I strung a sentence together that sounds ok I may get put forward for the job which is hilarious.

Why am I saying all the above?

We need to go back to school, but that I don’t mean for us all to be little s**** again & bully each other. I mean for us to start taking tests on out subjects when where at work on self employed. This then allows everyone to learn and get better at any subject. I love university as a rite of passage but for learning it’s awful & what they teach sometimes isn’t even industry standard or helpful as in 3 years while being at university your whole sector/industry could change.

I believe in learning, learning & learning some more just as I feel without learning and getting better what are we really doing here, I know this started out UX/UI but I really feel as this sector could help change humans for the better in all aspects of life.

Conclusion

Thank you for reading my thoughts. To come full circle, it should be UX/UI as UX is what should always happen first and that should never change.
